Hands-on role combining machine learning, algorithms, and software engineering from research through production.
Description
Machine Learning | Signal Processing | Python | C++ | Pyrmont Location
We’re looking for a Machine Learning Software Engineer with a strong background in signal processing to join an innovative engineering team developing intelligent technology for complex real-world applications.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of machine learning, algorithms, software, and signal processing.
You’ll be involved in taking problems from early research and algorithm development through to robust, production-ready software.
The Role
You’ll work across the full development lifecycle, including:
Developing and implementing machine learning algorithms for real-world dataApplying signal processing and mathematical modelling techniques to extract meaningful information from complex signalsDesigning, training, evaluating and optimising ML modelsDeveloping algorithms for classification, detection, prediction and pattern recognitionProcessing and analysing large or complex datasetsTranslating research and algorithmic concepts into reliable softwareDeveloping software in Python and/or C++Working closely with software, systems and engineering teams to integrate algorithms into productsTesting, validating and optimising algorithms against real-world dataContributing to the architecture and ongoing improvement of the company's ML and signal-processing capabilities
What We're Looking For
We’re interested in engineers who have a strong combination of software development, machine learning and signal processing experience.
You’ll ideally have:
Commercial experience developing software using Python and/or C++A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related disciplineStrong fundamentals in signal processingExperience with machine learning and statistical modellingExperience working with real-world sensor or time-series dataExperience developing, testing and deploying production-quality softwareThe ability to take an algorithm from concept through to implementationPython ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn
Why This Role?
This isn't a role where you'll simply train models against a clean dataset.
You'll be working with real engineering problems, real-world signals and imperfect data, developing algorithms that need to perform reliably outside of a research environment.
You'll have the opportunity to work across ML, signal processing and software engineering, with genuine ownership of the technology you develop.
If you're an engineer who enjoys understanding the mathematics behind a problem, developing the algorithm and then turning it into working software, we'd like to hear from you.
