About the Opportunity: The SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, DATA will build and maintain a data platform that integrates products with analytics, machine learning, and operational systems. This role focuses on creating APIs, libraries, schemas, and services that enable engineers to publish and use data securely and reliably. The engineer will enhance data quality, ownership, observability, and privacy, facilitating smoother data integration across teams to support product functionality and business operations. Responsibilities: Design, build, and operate services and tooling to help teams publish and consume trusted dataDevelop contract workflows, APIs, SDKs, generated types, and validation toolsImprove event-driven data pipelines using Kafka, Avro, and schema registriesCreate reliable data transfer methods from warehouses or lakehouses into products and operational systemsDesign and operate reverse ETL and data activation workflowsImplement compliance features including data classification, deletion, masking, access controls, audit trails, and policy enforcementWrite infrastructure as code and manage platform services in AWSMonitor and improve service-level indicators, alerts, dashboards, runbooks, and on-call responsesCollaborate with internal users, document workflows, review designs, and support adoption by other teams Requirements: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend, platform, developer infrastructure, or data-intensive systemsProficiency in Python and SQL; experience with a statically typed language such as C#, Java, Kotlin, or TypeScriptExperience building APIs, SDKs, shared libraries, data contract systems, or event publishing frameworksKnowledge of schema design, versioning, validation, code generation, and migrationsExperience with distributed or event-driven systems, including Kafka or similar platforms and schema technologies like Avro, Protobuf, JSON Schema, or OpenAPIExperience operating cloud services with automated testing, continuous delivery, observability, infrastructure as code, and incident responseFamiliarity with data warehouse or lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or IcebergPreferred: Experience in regulated environments with controls for PHI or PII including access, deletion, de-identification, lineage, and auditing Pay Range and Compensation Package: The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
