Backend Engineer At hokify, we're building the technology that connects millions of job seekers with employers and helps companies fill open positions faster. We're looking for a Backend Engineer who enjoys building reliable backend systems and improving the platform they run on. You'll help shape the services, infrastructure, and engineering practices that power our product while working closely with the team to solve meaningful problems at scale. What you'll do You'll own backend services end-to-end - from designing solutions and implementing features to operating and improving them in production. Your work will directly impact feature delivery speed, platform reliability, and the effectiveness of our software development processes. Your responsibilities Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScriptTake ownership of systems throughout their entire lifecycle - from requirements, design to productionWork closely with Product and Engineering teams to turn ideas into scalable solutionsImprove platform reliability, performance, and developer experienceContribute to architectural decisions, cloud infrastructure, and technical best practicesTroubleshoot production issues, share knowledge through code reviews and collaboration, and help shape the future of Agentic Engineering at hokify What we're looking for Proven experience building and operating backend applications in production environmentsStrong hands-on expertise with Node.js and TypeScriptCuriosity about how systems work beyond application code, including infrastructure, deployments, and reliabilityA strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomesPragmatic problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvementStrong collaboration and communication skills Our tech stack Node.js & TypeScriptMongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch / OpenSearchAWS, Docker, ECSMicroservices and REST APIsMonorepo with pnpmGitHub Actions and CI/CD Nice to have Experience working with AWS or other cloud platformsExperience with platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automationExperience operating distributed systems in productionExperience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearchExperience using AI-powered development toolsGerman language skills or willingness to learn Why join us?
