Our challenge We are seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our technology platforms. The SRE will work closely with development, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to automate processes, strengthen observability, manage production incidents, and establish best practices around service reliability. The ideal candidate has strong experience with cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring, and production incident management. Additional Information* The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $80-$90k/year & benefits (see below). The Role Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure production systems.Support cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, or GCP.Develop and manage infrastructure using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.Deploy and operate containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.Define and monitor Service Level Indicators, Service Level Objectives, and Service Level Agreements.Establish reliability standards, error budgets, capacity plans, and performance benchmarks.Implement observability solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch, or similar platforms.Develop automation and operational tooling using Python, Bash, Go, or PowerShell.Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to production incidents.Lead incident triage, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and corrective-action tracking.Reduce manual operational work through automation and self-service tooling.Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, network, database, and system-performance issues.Collaborate with software engineers to improve application reliability, deployment safety, and operational readiness.Support disaster recovery, backup, business continuity, and high-availability initiatives.Apply security and compliance best practices to infrastructure and deployment processes.Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to SRE standards and engineering best practices. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.4–5 years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering, systems engineering, or a related role.Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform:AWSMicrosoft AzureGoogle Cloud PlatformHands-on experience with Linux system administration and troubleshooting.Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production or enterprise environments.Strong infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible.Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines.Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as:PythonBashGoPowerShellExperience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and distributed tracing.Knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, load balancing, firewalls, and TLS.Experience with incident response, root-cause analysis, and problem management.Understanding of high availability, scalability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.Strong communication, analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
