Position: Infrastructure Project Manager – Data Centre Build Location: Sydney, Australia The role We have several data centre builds under way across Australia with each build covering power, cooling, network, storage and GPU compute: all on tight timelines with little room for error. You'll hold the full picture for your site: the schedule, the vendors, the risks and the decisions. Engineering, suppliers and leadership will come to you for a straight answer on where things stand. This is senior, yet hands on role - the right person knows enough about power density, liquid cooling, network fabric and GPU hardware. You’ll know when to challenge a vendor's lead time, see dependency problems before they arise, and have the experience and conviction to make the right trade off calls without signoff. You'll work closely with our Systems, Networks and AI Ops engineers, and alongside a second PM running the other build. What you'll do Own the build Take your project from kickoff through commissioning and handover, and stay accountable for scope, schedule, budget and quality the whole way.Build plans that reflect how the work really happens, including sequencing, critical path and long-lead equipment, and keep them accurate as conditions change. Hold vendors to account Manage procurement and delivery across network, storage and compute suppliers, contractors and facilities partners, and make sure each one delivers what they committed to.Chase long-lead items early, and have a fallback ready before you need it. Run the project and prevent little fires Set the project cadence: stand-ups, milestone reviews, steering updates and change control.Write status reports an executive can take in within two minutes, and raise problems while there's still time to fix them. Commission and hand over Lead commissioning and acceptance testing across compute, network fabric, storage, power and cooling.Hand Operations a site they can run from day one, with documentation and runbooks finished rather than promised. Make both builds better Work closely with the parallel PM and share lessons, risks and resources wherever it helps. What you'll bring A proven record delivering large-scale physical infrastructure, such as data centres, network rollouts or major IT infrastructure programmes with a hyperscaler, colocation provider, telco or bank infrastructure team is strongly preferred.Experience running network, storage, compute and facilities workstreams at the same time.Enough technical depth to hold your own with engineers and vendors (you can explain why a cooling or power constraint moves the schedule)Firm, fair vendor management. You know how to hold suppliers to their commitments.Flexibility in how you deliver. You'll choose waterfall, Agile or hybrid based on what the work needs, and you're comfortable building structure where none exists yet.Clear, concise writing and the confidence to steer executive conversations.Hands-on familiarity with data centre builds (rack and stack, structured cabling, power provisioning, cooling systems) is a significant advantage. GPU or AI infrastructure experience is desirable but not essential.
