Platform Engineer

Our client, a leading financial institution, is investing heavily in its next-generation Data & Analytics Platform as part of a multi-year digitalisation and transformation programme. We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineer (Platform) to join a growing Digital, Data & Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of data engineering, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure and DevOps, and wants to contribute to large-scale enterprise data and AI initiatives. You’ll work closely with Data Engineers, AI Engineers, Architects, Platform Engineers and Product Owners to build and continuously improve a modern data platform supporting business-critical applications and AI use cases. Key Responsibilities: Build, enhance and maintain next-generation data platform solutions, including data lake, data virtualisation and data visualisation capabilities.Develop and integrate services with internal and external APIs / MCPs.Design and implement scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).Build and manage CI/CD and DevOps pipelines within a large-scale enterprise environment.Support data and AI teams in developing and deploying AI applications and data pipelines.Conduct proof-of-concepts, acceptance testing and performance testing for new platform capabilities.Monitor and optimise platform performance, scalability, reliability and maintainability.Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve the organisation’s data platform.Work collaboratively with architects, engineers and business stakeholders in an Agile / continuous delivery environment.Contribute to data security capabilities, including areas such as encryption and anonymisation. Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.3+ years of experience in data platform development, platform engineering or a similar environment.Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and enterprise-scale platform development.Experience working with large-scale data infrastructure; experience handling hundreds of TB of data is highly desirable.Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages: Python, Java or Node.js.Strong scripting experience with Bash or PowerShell.Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform.Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using technologies such as Jenkins, Git and Ansible.Experience with data engineering technologies such as Airflow and Spark.Exposure to modern data lake frameworks such as Apache Hudi, Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.Experience with testing frameworks such as PyTest, JUnit or JMeter.Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or AliCloud is highly desirable.Exposure to agentic coding and modern SDLC practices is a plus.Financial services experience and experience working within international / multicultural teams are advantageous.Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven mindset.Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of technical initiatives from concept through implementation.
