Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer, Data Platform (MANTL) based in the United States. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will build and operate backend-heavy, full-stack capabilities that help financial institutions access and use critical data. You will own features end to end, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, and production support. The role focuses on secure APIs, data flows, customer-facing configuration experiences, and automation that turns platform data into useful insights. You will work closely with data engineers, product managers, designers, and software engineers to deliver reliable customer-facing products. The environment emphasizes readable code, strong testing, observability, security, and thoughtful technical decision-making. You will also contribute to incident response and operational improvements, taking ownership of the reliability of the systems you build. This is a remote opportunity suited to an engineer who enjoys meaningful ownership and solving complex data and platform challenges. Accountabilities Own the end-to-end implementation of Data Platform features, including technical design, development, deployment, monitoring, and production support. Translate customer needs into practical technical designs and incremental delivery plans. Build and maintain REST APIs that provide marketing performance and other platform data to customer business intelligence tools. Develop backend services and data flows that move information through queues, databases, APIs, and customer-facing interfaces. Create intuitive self-service interfaces that allow nontechnical users to configure complex data egress workflows. Develop webpage automations that capture and analyze aggregate event data while maintaining appropriate privacy and security controls. Design reliable data models, API contracts, and system integrations with appropriate validation, error handling, and observability. Collaborate with data and software engineers on the development and evolution of new Data Platform products. Write readable, maintainable, and well-tested code; participate in constructive code reviews and document technical decisions. Communicate technical proposals, tradeoffs, implementation progress, and design decisions clearly through written documentation and live discussions. Participate in an on-call rotation and incident response, investigate root causes, and implement improvements to operational readiness and system reliability. Use automated testing and secure, human-reviewed AI tools to improve development efficiency and delivery quality. Requirements 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend or full-stack application development, including production services or APIs. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience. Proven experience building, deploying, and maintaining production services or APIs. Strong TypeScript proficiency and solid backend development experience, with the ability to contribute to front-end functionality when needed. Working knowledge of REST APIs, asynchronous data flows, and relational SQL data modeling. Ability to write readable, tested code while addressing reliability, security, observability, and operational requirements. Experience developing and operating software in a cloud environment such as GCP or AWS. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain and defend technical decisions. Demonstrated ability to own features through delivery while collaborating effectively across engineering, data, and product teams. Preferred experience building data products or working in fintech, banking, or another regulated industry. Familiarity with technologies such as NestJS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, BullMQ, pnpm, or Turborepo is a plus. Familiarity with GraphQL, React, Relay, Next.js, developer-facing products, or APIs is beneficial. Familiarity with data quality, observability, compliance-related systems, or core banking software is a plus. Ability to participate in on-call responsibilities and respond effectively to production incidents. Benefits Salary range of $132,000–$165,000 per year.
