Associate Manager, Data Engineering

As a Data Engineering Assistant Manager within Avanade's Data & AI practice, you'll combine technical leadership, consulting expertise, and delivery excellence to help clients modernize their data platforms and accelerate their analytics and AI journeys. You'll work with leading Microsoft technologies including Fabric, Azure, Databricks, and emerging Data & AI capabilities while helping shape solutions that deliver measurable business value. Come join us As a Data Engineering Assistant Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering modern data platform solutions while guiding teams and clients through architecture, design, and implementation decisions. You will partner closely with solution architects, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure successful project outcomes and high-quality delivery. This role is ideal for professionals who enjoy balancing hands-on technical leadership with client engagement, mentoring, and solution ownership. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade Data Engineering, analytics, and AI platform solutions using Microsoft Azure, Fabric, and Databricks technologies.Own technical solution design for project workstreams and ensure alignment with architecture, security, governance, and business requirements.Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to understand business objectives, facilitate requirements discussions, and guide technical decision-making.Translate business requirements into scalable technical designs and implementation plans.Lead development teams and coordinate activities across engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders.Drive best practices for data engineering, platform modernization, data quality, governance, performance optimization, and operational support.Contribute to solution estimation, delivery planning, risk identification, and project execution activities.Support client workshops, architecture reviews, and solution presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.Mentor consultants and junior team members while fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing.Stay current with emerging Microsoft technologies and help clients evaluate opportunities across analytics, AI, real-time intelligence, and modern data platform capabilities. Qualifications Skills and experience Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering end-to-end Data Engineering and analytics solutions within enterprise environments.Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB, and related Azure services.Advanced SQL skills and strong experience with Python, PySpark, Scala, or similar data engineering technologies.Experience designing and implementing modern data architectures including Lakehouse, Data Warehousing, Data Mesh, streaming, and cloud-native analytics platforms.Demonstrated experience leading technical workstreams or delivery teams across multiple phases of a project lifecycle.Strong understanding of data governance, security, reliability, performance optimization, and operational support considerations.Experience facilitating client discussions and communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.Experience supporting analytics, machine learning, AI, or advanced reporting solutions.Ability to balance business priorities, delivery timelines, and technical quality when making solution decisions.Microsoft Azure, Fabric, and Data Engineering certifications are highly valued.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Minimum 12 years of experience or 6 years with an Associate’s Degree).
