Our Los Angeles studio works as part of a global team spanning architecture, interiors, engineering, product development, software, and manufacturing. We approach the home as a complete product, from spatial experience down to the systems and components from which it is made. Our work combines the craft and authorship of a boutique design studio with the precision, systems thinking, and iterative culture of a technology company. Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer or Interior Architect to join our El Segundo studio and help shape residential projects in Malibu and Hawai'i, with the opportunity to contribute to future developments as the portfolio grows. This is a hands-on design role spanning interior architecture, materials, FF&E, custom components, detailing, and product development. You will work side by side with architects, designers, and engineers to develop the home as a cohesive whole. We are looking for someone equally interested in how something looks, how it feels, how it works, and how it is made. The Projects Malibu: 16 beachfront residences. A collection of fully custom homes, each individually designed with bespoke interiors, custom components, and an exceptional level of attention to material, proportion, and detail. Hawai'i: A new resort community. A large-scale collection of homes set within the landscape of Hawai'i, with distinctive interiors and components that can be produced at scale without feeling standardized. Who you are: You are a designer with 7+ years of experience and a strong portfolio of built work. You move comfortably between concept and precise technical detail without losing either. You've worked on high-end residential, hospitality, or resort projects, and you understand materials, proportion, color, and finish at a sophisticated level. You know how custom components are made, not just how they are drawn. Key Responsibilities Design Development Develop interior concepts, material palettes, and distinct design languages.Design kitchens, bathrooms, millwork, built-ins, lighting, fixtures, finishes, furniture, and FF&E.Work closely with architects and engineers to integrate interiors with architecture, structure, MEP, lighting, and technology.Technical Execution Translate concepts into precise drawings, specifications, details, and fabrication information.Develop repeatable interior systems and finish packages for Hawai'i and bespoke interiors for Malibu.Product & Component Development Work with manufacturers to prototype, test, and refine custom components.Review materials, samples, shop drawings, mockups, and prototypes.Collaboration & Delivery Collaborate with design, engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams globally and with specialist US fabricators.Follow ideas from first sketch through production, installation, and the finished home. Skills & Experience 7+ years of relevant professional experience preferredExceptional design judgment and a strong portfolio of built workExperience with high-end residential, hospitality, resort, or similarly design-focused projectsStrength in both concept and technical executionSophisticated understanding of materials, proportion, colour, furniture, fixtures, and finishesExperience developing custom millwork, furniture, fixtures, or architectural componentsAbility to work convincingly across different aesthetic languagesAutoCAD or Rhino proficiency required; Revit experience strongly preferredBachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field Nice to Have Product development, manufacturing, modular, or prefabricated construction experienceInternational sourcing or direct fabricator/manufacturer experienceLuxury residential or hospitality experienceMandarin language abilityComfort working in both metric and imperial unitsNCIDQ certification or architectural licensure The Studio This is an in-person role in our El Segundo studio, reporting to the Design Director. Our architects, designers, and engineers work together as one team, connected to specialists and manufacturing teams globally. Ideas move quickly from sketch to prototype to production, and designers stay involved throughout that process. The role includes travel to Malibu and Hawai'i and periodic international travel.
