Senior Back-End Engineer Remote (Europe & Middle East) | Full-time | 1 Opening About Our Client Our client is a fast-growing AI-powered recruitment platform that automates the end-to-end hiring workflow, from candidate sourcing and outreach to AI-driven interviews, pipeline automation, and ATS synchronisation. The platform operates at production scale, running real-time, event-driven pipelines across multiple systems and complex third-party integrations. THE OPPORTUNITY We're looking for a Senior Back-End Engineer to own meaningful parts of the platform's API, data, integration, and automation layers. This is a full-time, fully remote role open to candidates based in Europe or the Middle East. You'll join a small, high-ownership team where engineers drive design decisions from schema through to infrastructure, collaborate directly on architecture, and ship independently without heavy process overhead. The stack is TypeScript on Node.js/NestJS, but we'll seriously consider strong engineers from other back-end ecosystems (Go, Java, Python, .NET) who bring the same depth of thinking. What You'll Do Design and evolve the GraphQL API layer and the domain services behind itBuild bidirectional integrations with third-party ATS and HR platforms: webhooks, async consumers, idempotency, and retry strategies at scaleDevelop event-driven automation pipelines for candidate scoring, interview scheduling, outreach, and rejection flowsIntegrate with external vendors across AI interview, telephony, email delivery, and data enrichment APIsWrite and maintain AWS infrastructure-as-code alongside the services that run on itDesign and extend a multi-tenant relational data model and its access control layer What You Bring Strong, production-grade back-end experience in TypeScript (Node.js/NestJS), or equivalent depth in Go, Java, Python, or .NETSolid PostgreSQL (or equivalent) skills: schema design, migrations, query optimisation, and ORMs at scaleHands-on experience owning a GraphQL API, including schema design and resolver organisationEvent-driven and async architecture experience: SQS or equivalent, retries and back-off, dead-letter handlingProduction experience integrating third-party APIs: webhook verification, idempotent writes, rate limits, graceful degradationComfort with AWS core services (ECS, SQS, S3, RDS), ideally with CDK, Terraform, or similarThe ability to own a feature end to end, from requirements through data model, API, and infrastructureStrong operational awareness: logs, traces, metrics, and queries are your everyday tools for investigating live issuesClear written communication, a considered point of view in design discussions, and a bias toward simplicity NICE TO HAVE Python / FastAPIOpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including hybrid vector/keyword searchWorkflow orchestration tools such as Temporal or InngestMulti-tenant SaaS design patternsExperience integrating with ATS, HRIS, or HR-tech platformsManaged authentication platforms (Clerk or similar) This posting may involve the use of AI tools to assist in reviewing applications; final hiring decisions are made by humans.
