The Role This experienced Software Developer works as a member of our Enterprise development team in the design and development of complex and scalable Public Safety software solutions. They will manage all aspects of developing new applications, including developing specs, coordinating with other developers, and designing databases. Job Duties Prepare for, present, and oversee formal design and code reviews Provide technical and work guidance to the team, actively ensuring production of quality code and advocating toward delivering high quality solutions the first timeEngage in the production and review of advanced software documentationAssist with architecture designs and decisionsInteract and communicate on a technical level with external entities to ensure compliance with requirements and accreditation for application releasesCommunicate with and conduct software demonstrations for internal and external customersUse their excellent understanding of product framework and infrastructure to make recommendations for improvementMake suggestions for foundation object changes and develop new objects to include in foundation classesIdentify refactoring opportunities and technical debt issues to bring to the Product OwnerPerform peer testing of functional changesDevelop test scripts, design test plans, and create testing tools and QA documentationDesign systems with unit and automation testing in place to ensure software qualityWork closely with Support to effectively diagnose field escalated issues and identify appropriate resolutionsBe a Subject Matter Expert on multiple technical topicsPerforms all other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar, or equivalent experience7+ years of professional development experience, including developing complex systems and working in an Agile/Scrum environmentExpert knowledge of C#, Angular, EntityFramework, RESTful APIs, gRPC, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, PostgreSQLWorking knowledge of LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) — prompt design, structured outputs, function/tool callingUnderstanding of context windows, tokens, and cost/latency tradeoffsExperience integrating AI features into existing products (not just building models from scratch)Familiarity with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and using them effectively in a dev workflowExpert understanding of software architecture, principles, and common design patternsExpert knowledge in the analysis and design of tables, databases, and relationships using standard normalization rulesExpert in writing efficient database queries and analyzing them for performance optimizationExpert in writing unit tests for validations and calculations in functions/methodsComprehensive knowledge of unit test mocking and can apply mocking concepts to improve unit test quality and performanceProficient in performance tuning and solving complex optimization issuesSelf-starter who can work independently in a self-managed team environmentAbility to lead functional areas, organize the team, provide light coaching and direction, assign tasks, and measure deliverablesUnderstand the value of effective communication and work as part of a team to promote communication within itExcellent presentation and facilitation skills CJIS Clearance A required part of the onboarding process for this role involves obtaining CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) clearance—a critical credential for safeguarding public safety data.
