Senior Network Security Engineer – On-Site, Tallahassee, FL (Contract)
Sweent is hiring a Senior Network Security Engineer for a contract engagement with a Florida state government agency in Tallahassee.
You'll secure and maintain the agency's enterprise network, with a focus on next-generation firewalls, VPNs and network segmentation.
What you'll do
Configure, administer and document firewall access rules on Palo Alto and Check Point, and support GlobalProtect VPN.Lead firewall deployments and rule migrations, including converting existing rule-based policies onto new platforms.Work with core network security infrastructure: NGFWs, VPNs, log collectors and monitoring tools.Configure firewalls and security policies in cloud network environments and monitor traffic.Design network segmentation (east-west and north-south) to limit lateral movement and protect critical systems.Design and support LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless, Internet and cloud connectivity, and data center infrastructure.Lead investigation of complex network and security incidents using logs, packet analysis and monitoring tools.Perform security risk assessments and prepare status reports, metrics and recommendations for leadership.Maintain documentation to NIST guidelines: network diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, firewall rules, configurations and disaster recovery procedures.Mentor network and security staff and share engineering standards and best practices.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.5–10 years of combined IT and security experience.3–5 years with information security tools based on NIST standards.Hands-on next-generation firewall administration; Palo Alto or Check Point strongly preferred.Experience with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio) to map infrastructure.Able to work on-site in Tallahassee, FL.

Must pass an FBI Level II background check.Preferred certifications
PCNSE, CISSP, CCNP or CCIE.Engagement
