Senior Mechanical Engineer Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Building Consulting / Engineering About The Opportunity We are currently working with an established consulting engineering firm in Winnipeg that is looking to add a Senior Mechanical Engineer to their growing building engineering team. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of building projects across commercial, institutional, healthcare, residential, and other sectors. The successful candidate will be involved in projects from the early design stages through to construction, while working alongside a collaborative team of engineers, technologists, and other building professionals. The role would be well suited to a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys a combination of technical design, project involvement, client interaction, and collaboration and is looking for an opportunity to continue developing their career within consulting engineering. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical building systems for a variety of new construction and renovation projectsComplete HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and other mechanical system designsPrepare mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and technical documentationPerform load calculations and equipment selectionsDevelop designs in accordance with applicable building codes, standards, and industry practicesCoordinate mechanical designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and other disciplinesReview drawings and specifications and provide technical recommendationsParticipate in site visits, field reviews, inspections, and construction administration as requiredWork directly with clients, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholdersAssist with project planning, scheduling, budgets, and deliverablesProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff where appropriateContribute to proposals, scopes of work, and other business development activities as opportunities arise Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Manitoba, or eligibility to obtainApproximately 5-8+ years of experience in mechanical building consulting/designExperience with HVAC and mechanical building systemsStrong understanding of applicable building codes and engineering standardsExperience with Revit and/or AutoCADStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary teamStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines What the Opportunity Offers Opportunity to join an established and growing consulting engineering teamExposure to a diverse range of building projects and sectorsCollaborative environment with experienced engineers and technical professionalsOpportunities for technical development and career progressionAbility to take increasing ownership of projects and client relationshipsPotential to mentor junior team members and grow into a leadership positionCompetitive compensation and benefits packageWinnipeg-based role with opportunities to work on projects throughout Manitoba and beyond The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a Mechanical Engineer with building consulting experience who is looking for more ownership in their work and the opportunity to grow within a strong engineering team.
