Operations Superintendent

ABOUT ALLUMINOUS Alluminous is an Australian critical minerals company developing high purity alumina (HPA) processing technology. We are building a co-located pilot and demonstration plant in Perth to prove up our process at scale – and we need a hands-on operations lead to help us build it, commission it, and run it. ABOUT THE ROLE This is primarily a physically hands-on role, not a desk job. You will take ownership of sourcing and procuring equipment, materials and services; managing construction, installation and commissioning; and then running day-to-day operations and maintenance of the pilot and demonstration plants. You will be on the tools, on site, solving problems in real time – with some input into process design and testwork along the way. We do not need you to have all the answers on day one from a textbook – we need someone who has actually built and run a pilot or small-scale plant before, and who can bring that practical know-how to a growing team. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Sourcing and procuring equipment, materials, contractors and services for the plants.Managing construction, installation and commissioning on site.Coordinating and supervising contractors and tradespeople.Running day-to-day plant operations, including hands-on work when needed.Developing and maintaining maintenance plans to keep the plants running reliably.Troubleshooting and continuously improving plant and process performance.Supervising operators, maintenance staff and contractors as the team grows. Supporting testwork programs and providing practical input into process design.Leading by example on safety – toolbox talks, risk assessments, and a strong safety culture on site. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Demonstrated hands-on experience building, commissioning and/or operating a pilot plant or small-scale chemical/process plant – this is the essential requirement.A relevant engineering degree (Chemical/Process Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy or similar) is preferred but not essential – we are equally interested in candidates with a strong trade background (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation) and proven plant-build/operate experience.Experience managing procurement, contractors and construction coordination.Experience supervising operations and maintenance teams. A practical, get-it-done attitude and strong problem-solving instincts.Sound understanding of hydrometallurgical or chemical processes (highly regarded).Good communication skills – you will be liaising with contractors, suppliers and the leadership team.Familiarity with process modelling software (SysCAD, Metsim, HSC Chemistry) is a bonus, not a requirement.
