About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of scalable microservices within our warehouse and shuttle system platform. Your expertise will contribute to the design and implementation of robust backend solutions using C#/.NET, leveraging Microsoft Orleans for distributed processing. You will play a key role in shaping our internal frameworks for messaging, logging, event handling, and service communication, ensuring high performance and reliability. The role involves translating customer requirements into technical solutions, participating in all phases of project execution—from analysis and solution design to implementation and deployment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, quality assurance, and other engineering units, to deliver high-quality software that meets client specifications. Additionally, you will be involved in code reviews, quality assurance processes, and the establishment of coding standards, contributing to the continuous improvement of our development practices. As part of your responsibilities, you will support and mentor junior developers, fostering a collaborative learning environment. You will also participate actively in DevOps and CI/CD workflows, utilizing tools such as GitHub Actions, Nuke, Docker, and SonarCloud to streamline development and deployment processes. Your work will directly impact the stability, scalability, and performance of our automation systems, ensuring seamless integration with hardware and other software components. Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should possess several years of professional experience in software development with a strong focus on C#/.NET technologies. A solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems is essential. Experience in designing and evolving software architectures, interfaces, and technical solutions is required, along with practical knowledge of implementing software in customer projects. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, as well as hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization using Docker, are critical. Candidates should have a good grasp of REST APIs, integration techniques, and communication protocols for distributed services. A thorough understanding of clean code principles, software quality, and maintainable architecture is a must. Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to make well-founded technical decisions, and clear communication are vital. Fluency in both German and English (minimum C1 level) is required, along with willingness to travel to customer sites for integration, commissioning, and go-live activities, accounting for approximately 15% travel time. While familiarity with every technology in our stack is not mandatory, a strong foundation in .NET, distributed systems, and software architecture is essential, along with enthusiasm for learning new technologies. You will design and develop architectures, interfaces, and integrations with various software and automation components, ensuring seamless communication and functionality. Conducting software, integration, and system testing, alongside supporting the deployment, stabilization, and go-live phases at customer sites, will be part of your duties. Maintaining code quality through reviews, adhering to coding standards, and reusing project solutions within our standard software platform are also essential tasks. You will mentor junior developers, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team. Collaboration with product owners, quality assurance teams, and other engineering units such as shuttle, stations, and IT teams is crucial for project success. Additionally, active participation in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, Nuke, Docker, and SonarCloud, will be expected to streamline development workflows and deployment processes.
