Senior Control Systems Engineer

Senior Control Systems & Safety Engineer We’re looking for an experienced Senior Control Systems & Safety Engineer to join our growing team and deliver high-quality control systems, automation and functional safety solutions across complex industrial environments. This is a hands-on senior engineering role where you’ll work directly with clients, solve complex technical challenges and take ownership of control systems projects from design and development through to commissioning. What You’ll Be Doing ⚙️ Deliver Complex Engineering Solutions Design, develop, implement and commission advanced control system solutions across complex industrial environments. 🤝 Work Directly with Clients Understand operational challenges, define requirements and develop clear, practical scopes of work. 🛡️ Engineer Safety Into the Solution Apply functional and machine safety principles throughout the project lifecycle, including hazard analysis, risk assessment, safety lifecycle activities and SIL verification. 🎯 Own Your Engineering Outcomes Take responsibility for your technical deliverables, ensuring they meet the required standards for quality, safety and performance. 💡 Bring Your Technical Expertise Solve complex engineering challenges, provide senior-level technical support and share your knowledge and experience with the wider engineering team. What You’ll Bring 5+ years’ control systems engineering experience, ideally within heavy industry, process industries or other complex industrial environmentsStrong hands-on experience in the design, programming and commissioning of industrial control systemsSound knowledge of automation platforms and industrial communication networksStrong client-facing and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and practicallyExperience applying functional and/or machine safety principles in engineering design and commissioningKnowledge of relevant standards including IEC 61508, IEC 61511, IEC 62061 and ISO 13849Experience with hazard analysis, risk assessment and SIL verificationA proactive approach to engineering, safety, quality and continuous improvement Functional Safety Expertise We’re particularly interested in experienced Control Systems Engineers who bring additional functional safety capability. Qualifications or certifications such as the following will be highly regarded: FS Engineer (TÜV Rheinland)TÜV SÜD Functional Safety EngineerGraduate Certificate in Safety, Risk and Reliability EngineeringOther relevant functional or machine safety qualifications Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is preferred, combined with demonstrated industry experience in control systems and automation.
