Senior Associate Traction Power Engineer

SERP Recruitment is partnering with a leading engineering consultancy to appoint an experienced Senior / Associate Engineer – Traction Power into its specialist rail electrification team. This is an opportunity to join an established national rail business working across some of Australia’s most significant current and future transport infrastructure programs. With a strong pipeline of major rail projects across multiple states, our client is looking for traction power specialists who can bring strong technical capability across rail electrification, traction power supply, substations, power systems and associated electrical infrastructure. The position can be based in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne or Perth, with the level tailored to suit the experience of the successful candidate. The opportunity Working within a specialist national traction power team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of complex rail electrification projects from early feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction. Depending on your experience and level, responsibilities will include: Leading and coordinating traction power design packages across major rail projectsDelivering AC and DC traction power system designsTraction power substation and HV supply system designPreparing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, feasibility studies and option assessmentsUndertaking and reviewing power system and protection studiesSupporting HV/LV Earthing & Bonding and earth grid designManaging multidisciplinary design interfaces and project deliverablesProviding technical guidance and support to developing engineersWorking directly with clients and key project stakeholdersSupporting tenders, proposals and future project pursuits About you We are interested in speaking with engineers who have approximately 6+ years' experience through to senior technical leaders within traction power or rail electrification. Ideally, you will bring: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering or a related disciplineStrong experience in traction power and/or rail electrification designExperience with traction power substations, HV supply systems or associated rail electrical infrastructureExperience preparing engineering calculations, drawings, reports and design documentationUnderstanding of HV/LV Earthing & Bonding principlesKnowledge of relevant Australian and international rail/electrical standardsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to work across multidisciplinary rail infrastructure projectsMust have full working rights for Australia Experience on Australian heavy rail, metro or major transport infrastructure projects would be highly regarded, although candidates with transferable international rail experience are also encouraged to apply. Experience with software including DIgSILENT PowerFactory, CDEGS, ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB, DIALux, OpenTrack or OpenPowerNet would also be advantageous. Why consider this opportunity?
