Responsibilities
As the Digital Innovations Engineer, you'll sit within the Innovation team in the Digital Solutions area and work directly with stakeholders across the business.
They'll bring you their problems.
You'll ask the right questions, check your assumptions, dig into the data and design the solution with them.
How you get there is up to you.
It might be a Power BI dashboard, a Power App, an automated workflow or an AI-powered tool.
This is an innovation team rather than a BAU delivery team, so you won't find rigid processes or detailed specs waiting for you.
You'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, resourceful in how you work and confident working across several projects for different stakeholders.
Your role will include:
Meeting with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and shape solutions with them.Manipulating, cleaning and analysing data to find the insights that matter.Building Power BI dashboards and reports that drive real decisions.Designing Power Apps, automations and AI-driven tools that remove manual effort.Spotting problems before they happen and suggesting ideas that help other teams.Keeping up with what's new in Power BI, the Power Platform and AI, and sharing it with the team.
Requirements:
Proven experience designing and delivering solutions to real business problems, with clear outcomes you can talk through.Strong hands-on Power BI experience.Strong SQL and Python skills for data manipulation and analysis.Excellent problem-solving skills and the confidence to work through ambiguity.Strong communication and stakeholder skills, including working directly with non-technical users.Experience in less structured environments, or in delivery teams embedded in projects for different stakeholders.Smart, thoughtful use of AI tools such as ChatGPT.Experience with Power Apps, Power Automate or AI Builder is highly regarded.Experience in electricity networks, utilities or the wider energy sector is a bonus but not essential.Geospatial data experience (GIS, ArcGIS, Nearmap or similar) is a bonus but not essential.
