Senior Electrical Engineer

The company is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electronic and motor control systems for Genie’s residential and commercial products. This highly visible role involves close collaboration with cross-functional new product development and sustaining engineering teams to create next-generation door openers and accessories. The successful candidate must be capable of architecting, designing, analyzing, and documenting electronic control systems at the PCB level. Responsibilities In this role, you will: Perform feasibility studies and evaluate emerging technologies, architectures, and design concepts. Lead electrical design activities through all phases of the product development lifecycle, from concept through production. Develop and maintain design requirements, specifications, and technical documentation. Select electronic components, develop schematics, perform circuit analysis, and lead prototype development for validation and testing. Guide PCB layout activities and design reviews to ensure manufacturability, testability, and signal integrity requirements are met. Design, optimize, and validate RF circuits, including receiver sensitivity, antenna performance, and wireless range. Lead hands-on prototype bring-up, debugging, troubleshooting, and system verification. Ensure compliance with EMC, FCC, UL, and other regulatory requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, quality, industrial engineering, and test, to deliver quality technical solutions. Lead technical investigations, root-cause analysis, and continuous product improvement initiatives. Support manufacturing, supplier engagement, and production issue resolution. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on complex engineering projects. Drive technical risk assessment and support successful product launches. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Proven experience developing residential and/or commercial products for high-volume manufacturing within a new product development environment. Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Hands-on experience designing analog, digital, and power circuits at the PCB assembly level. Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as Altium, PADS, or equivalent for schematic capture and PCB design. Experience developing products that comply with FCC, UL, and other applicable regulatory standards. Working knowledge of NPD stage-gate processes from concept through production release. General understanding of PCB fabrication, assembly, manufacturing, and production test processes. Strong knowledge of electronic components, PCB materials, and design-for-manufacturing principles. Experience with microcontroller-based embedded systems; firmware development experience is a plus. Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, circuit simulation, or thermal analysis tools is a plus. Proven ability to lead technical projects and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams. Experience designing power conversion, motor control, AC/DC, and DC/DC power systems. Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and other electronic bench equipment. Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with typically 8+ years of relevant industry experience; or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with typically 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
