DevOps Engineer - C#

JUXT is partnering with a global asset management firm to standardise and improve build and deployment pipelines across their application estate. The estate is a mix of C# / .NET and Python services, with a long history of per-team build conventions, varied deployment targets, and tooling. The goal is a small set of opinionated, well-supported pipeline patterns that every team can adopt, with consistent quality gates, observability, and deployment behaviour. You will join a small, high-performing squad of DevOps engineers, working with the client and embedded alongside application teams to create clean, portable, repeatable build and deployment processes. The client is a high-performing London Asset Management firm operating as part of a major international banking group, running a .NET-focused technical stack with an agile, collaborative culture. This role suits a senior, delivery-focused engineer who genuinely enjoys the platform/enablement craft: making other engineers faster and safer by giving them sensible defaults rather than a wall of YAML. You should be opinionated about what good pipelines look like, pragmatic about meeting application teams where they actually are, and patient about migrating long-standing setups without breaking production. Responsibilities You will work on: Standardised pipeline templates. Designing and building reusable GitHub Actions workflows that application teams can adopt with minimal bespoke work - covering build, test, scan, package, promote and deploy across pre-production and production environments.Containerisation and 12-factor apps. Working with application teams to package services as containers, externalise configuration, surface logs and metrics correctly, and remove the hidden assumptions about the underlying host that make migration painful.Mixed deployment targets. Supporting both Kubernetes and VM / Windows server deployment patterns within the same pipeline framework, so teams can adopt the standard regardless of where their service currently runs.Quality and security gates. Wiring test suites and tools like SonarQube, SAST / DAST tooling, dependency / CVE scanning and image signing into the standard pipeline so coverage and CVE thresholds are enforced by default.Infrastructure as Code. Authoring and reviewing Terraform / Bicep where the pipeline standard needs supporting infrastructure (build runners, environments, registries, identities).Migration off legacy tooling. Moving build pipelines from Azure DevOps pipelines onto the standardised GitHub Actions-based flow without losing production capability mid-flight.Enablement. Documenting the standard, supporting adopting teams, and raising the floor on what “good” looks like across the wider engineering organisation. Requirements Essential Hands-on DevOps engineer with substantial production experience designing and operating Azure DevOps and Octopus Deploy, at scale (reusable workflows, composite actions, matrix builds, self-hosted runners, environments and approvals).Real experience designing continuous delivery pipelines that promote a build through multiple pre-production environments to production, with appropriate gates, approvals and rollback behaviour.Comfortable working with on-premise networking, firewalls and VM-based deployment targets, and designing pipeline patterns that work for both without becoming a tangled mess.Strong instincts for pipeline as a product: templates and standards that other engineers actually want to adopt, with good defaults, clear extension points, and minimal cognitive load.High autonomy and strong written communication. You will be working with multiple application teams who have their own way of doing things - clarity and pragmatism matter as much as technical depth. Beneficial Experience with GitHub Actions.Infrastructure as Code experience, for the supporting infrastructure that pipelines and environments.Familiarity with the 12-factor app principles in practice.Background wiring applications into observability stacks (Prometheus / Grafana, Datadog, Azure Application Insights) as a standard part of deployment.Experience integrating security and supply-chain tooling (SonarQube, ProGet, Snyk, image signing) into CI / CD as enforced gates.Reading-level familiarity with C# / .NET and / or Python - enough to understand and improve the build and test phases of the apps you’re pipelining, even if you’re not writing application code day to day.Exposure to financial services, asset management or other regulated enterprise environments - comfort with change governance, controlled access and audit expectations.
