Where you’ll be working We are looking for Onsite IT Support Engineer – L2 Smart Hands with 5+ yrs of experienceLocation - Sindelfingen & EsslingenTenure -12 monthsLanguage Proficiency -B2No Sponsorship provided for this role Job description Engineer should be provided with laptops, tool kit with, console cable (Cisco, Cabling – Cat5 or CAT5e or CAT6) with required drivers, converter USB to console, RJ-45 copper (LAN) cable, putty and TFTP software installed and admin rights of the laptop/desktop with internet connectivity. Also with admin rights, RDP access, RJ-45 port, enabled Java, different browsers, terminal software like putty, FTP client, WINZCP, TFTP client etc.Engineer should carry a mobile with data connectivity to ensure he can contact the migration leads; follow escalation matrix as appended below in case of any issues.Engineer should be an English speaker and be well versed with local language.Engineer should be able to participate in bridges/calls on MS Teams or any other IM for any technical assistance required by remote users.Engineer should have basic troubleshooting knowledge for windows/mac, Network and compute devices .Engineer must follow the instruction given by team.Should have good documentation skills.It is desirable to have knowledge of Network devices like Cisco switches, Routers, Firewalls and other managed/un-managed Network devices like wireless APs, Wireless Controller, switches, routers etc. (Candidate with CCNA certification or equivalent certification from other vendors would be preferred)Should be able to validate the delivered network devices as per ordered BOQ. Should unpack, power on and stage the devices. Should be able to inform HCL remote team in case of any DOA device.Capable of identifying ports & devices, connect/change Ethernet cables between devices, power-on, restart devices as per guidance from remote Network engineers.Basic knowledge of service provider or internet service provider NTU devices, MUX and DSL modems and can coordinate with service providers for link commissioning and testing.Capable of installing/mounting the Network devices like router/switches, Firewalls, VPN Concentrators, Access Points etc. Connect console cable and follow instructions to configure devices.Provide console access to the device for remote support and installation.Capable to execute basic troubleshooting commands like ping, tracert, ipconfig etc. on Windows machine or on network devices.Capable of doing cabling from patch panel to Switches and dressing (port to device and device to device only).Basic knowledge of printers, scanners, wireless access points, Laptop, and desktop to validate the network properties and settings. Change IP address on Windows operating systems(laptop/desktop) to connect to network.Should have good understanding of power sources/power cable types, power outlets available.Should have good understanding & experience on passive cabling, intra-rack rack cabling.Perform physical inventory whenever needed and maintain asset management activitiesShould have good understanding on structured cabling standards like Fibre (Single Mode- OS3, Multi-Mode – OM1/OM2/OM3/OM4), Ethernet (Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6) and connector types (SC/ST/LC etc.).Should be capable of cable dressing and labelling.Speak to IT administrator, Electricians and Site contact to get clarification if there is any mismatch.Perform Wireless Radio Survey using wireless survey tools.
