Senior Power BI Developer

Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer Overview We are seeking a mid-senior to senior-level Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to play a key role in advancing and scaling enterprise business intelligence capabilities. This position serves as a bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, with responsibilities spanning data engineering, analytics enablement, data architecture, and reporting solutions. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a robust and scalable data ecosystem that supports analytics, reporting, governance, and decision-making across the organization. The role requires expertise in both on-premises and cloud-based data environments, including SQL Server, Azure technologies, Snowflake, and Power BI. Working closely with technology, security, governance, and business teams, the BI Developer will ensure solutions align with organizational standards, security requirements, data governance practices, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies. Key Responsibilities Data Architecture & Development Partner with analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data architectures, data models, tables, and data pipelines.Build and manage data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions across on-premises and cloud platforms.Support data acquisition initiatives, source system assessments, and data discovery activities.Design and develop ETL/ELT processes and integration workflows.Create and maintain technical documentation, data lineage, and process documentation.Promote best practices in data architecture, integration, warehousing, governance, and analytics through knowledge sharing, training, and cross-functional collaboration. Cloud Integration Utilize cloud-based data services, including Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Snowflake, to centralize and optimize data availability.Support the migration and modernization of on-premises data solutions to cloud environments where appropriate. Data Governance Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and consistency across enterprise platforms.Collaborate with leadership and technology teams to establish and maintain controls for data integrations and data management processes.Develop and maintain a comprehensive inventory of data assets, including data models, attributes, reporting assets, analytical datasets, and user access structures.Maintain and govern enterprise data models and ensure enhancements align with established design standards.Partner with technology and security teams to ensure compliance with privacy, security, and access management requirements.Provide strategic guidance on data governance, data standards, and enterprise data management practices.Implement and support governance frameworks, policies, and compliance initiatives.Lead or coordinate projects related to data strategy, governance, and data management improvements. Technical Support & Collaboration Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to analytics and business intelligence teams.Utilize Azure DevOps and related tools for source control, CI/CD processes, project tracking, and release management.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of data and analytics solutions. Business Intelligence Enablement Support the analysis, design, development, and implementation of reporting and analytics requirements.Assist with the development, optimization, and maintenance of Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models.Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Microsoft Power Platform solutions. Business Partnership Apply business and operational knowledge to design effective and scalable data solutions.Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to align data initiatives with organizational objectives and strategic priorities. Education, Experience & Skills Education & Experience Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.7-10 years of progressive experience in data engineering, business intelligence, analytics development, or related disciplines.Demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives, mentoring technical team members, and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.Technical Skills Strong proficiency in SQL Server, SSIS, and T-SQL development.Experience with Azure services, including:Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)Azure DatabricksAzure Data Factory (ADF)Expertise in Snowflake data warehousing and cloud data platforms.Advanced Power BI development and data modeling skills.Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile delivery methodologies.Familiarity with version control and source code management tools such as GitHub.Strong understanding of:Data modelingETL/ELT processesData warehousing conceptsData governance frameworksSoft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Additional language proficiency is considered an asset.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.High attention to detail and commitment to quality.Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.Experience participating in planning sessions, design reviews, retrospectives, and continuous improvement activities.Prior leadership, coaching, or supervisory experience is considered an asset.Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
