Your Mission We are looking for an experienced OpenTelemetry / Observability Engineer to build and productionize an OpenTelemetry ingest gateway for our GenAI observability platform. The role will focus on establishing the OTEL Collector gateway foundation, integrating telemetry with self-hosted Langfuse, implementing trace governance and routing controls, and ensuring the platform is scalable, reliable, and production ready. The engineer will work as part of a small, focused pod of 2–3 engineers responsible for taking the Langfuse observability platform through the next stage of production readiness. What You’ll Do Design, configure, and operate an OpenTelemetry Collector gateway.Configure OTLP ingestion using:OTLP/gRPC — Port 4317OTLP/HTTP — Port 4318Integrate OpenTelemetry Collector with Langfuse OTEL ingest.Build governance and validation logic for:Trace and project routingMetadata validationSensitive-data redactionPayload trimmingPolicy enforcementOnboard new GenAI telemetry sources into the observability platform.Validate trace structure, span metadata, routing, and telemetry quality.Configure collector capabilities including:BatchingRetry mechanismsQueueingBackpressure handlingFailure handlingTroubleshoot telemetry ingestion, routing, and collector performance issues.Support backend and storage scaling for self-hosted Langfuse.Implement operational controls required for production readiness.Manage cloud infrastructure and deployments using AWS and Terraform.Create configuration, deployment, testing, and validation evidence for production rollout.Work closely with SRE, platform, AI, and engineering teams to establish observability standards. What You Bring Strong hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry Collector configuration and troubleshooting.Strong understanding of OTLP, traces, spans, exporters, receivers, processors, and pipelines.Experience integrating OpenTelemetry with observability platforms; Langfuse OTEL ingest experience is strongly preferred.Programming experience in at least one of:PythonGoTypeScriptStrong experience with YAML and JSON configuration engineering.Working knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure.Hands-on experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code.Understanding of production observability concepts including:ReliabilityScalingRetry and queue managementBackpressureFailure recoveryUnderstanding of GenAI telemetry schemas, including:Traces and spansModel metadataToken usageCostLatencyRequest/response metadataStrong troubleshooting and debugging skillsExperience running self-hosted Langfuse in production.Experience with Kubernetes / EKS.Experience with observability platforms and telemetry pipelines.Experience implementing PII/sensitive-data redaction and telemetry governance.Experience with high-volume distributed tracing systems.Knowledge of GenAI / LLM application architectures.Experience with backend and database/storage scaling.SRE or production operations experience.
