With your passion to learn about the cloud, you are excited to help build the Cloud Native management interfaces of an already Cloud Native Database platform. You will join a team of experienced engineers who are defining what it means to be a cloud native database platform, and you will contribute directly to the components and integrations that make it happen. With guidance from senior engineers, you will deepen your knowledge of the Cloud Native ecosystem, including Kubernetes, observability and automation tooling, and help bring Couchbase everywhere it can add value. You will have opportunities to contribute to Open Source Cloud Native projects and grow your presence in those communities. In doing so, you will help Couchbase continue to gather users, deployments and customers in the constantly growing database market. Responsibilities Build Management Features Working with senior engineers and product managers, design, implement, test and ship well-defined features that integrate Couchbase with Cloud Native tech such as Prometheus, Fluentd and Fluent-bit, and the Kubernetes Pod Autoscaler.Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code; participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback. Communicate progress, risks and dependencies clearly to your team and partner with Quality Engineering on test coverage for the features you build. Support Across Lifecycle Contribute to documentation, examples and tutorials on integration with Cloud Native ecosystem components such as Fluentd, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.Help Sales Engineers, Professional Services and Support investigate and resolve customer issues related to the features you own.Participate in the team’s development processes, including sprint planning, estimation, CI/CD and on-call or bug triage rotations, and suggest improvements where you see opportunities. Collaborate with Product and Engineering Work with Product Managers, Architects and senior engineers to understand requirements and help refine the design of new features, sharing what you learn about the Cloud Native ecosystem along the way.Collaborate with engineers on other teams where features depend on each other, and grow your knowledge of the broader Couchbase platform. Preferred Qualifications Motivated, curious and self-driven individual, eager to learn new technologies quickly and grow with the guidance of senior team members.Experience with software development and build automation processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).Hands-on experience with Golang or Python, and with Docker and Kubernetes.Familiarity with cloud deployment tooling (CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM Templates, GCP Cloud Deployment Manager).Experience with, or interest in, contributing to Open Source projects and working with a team distributed across time zones. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience1+ years of professional software development experience, proficient in one or more programming languagesPassion for learning new technologies and a desire to automate the boring stuffWorking knowledge of containers and Kubernetes (professional, academic or personal projects)Presence on GitHub (or similar)Comfortable working in Unix/Linux environments At Couchbase, we believe innovation thrives when diverse perspectives are at the table.
