Senior Release Train Engineer

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to support a company focused on federal modernization, cloud transformation, and mission-critical technology initiatives. This position is on-site in Huntsville, AL. The Senior Release Train Engineer will lead Agile Release Train execution, coordinate delivery across multiple technical teams, and facilitate SAFe practices supporting a major federal modernization program. This is an opportunity to play a key role in aligning engineering workstreams, managing program-level dependencies, and driving coordinated delivery of critical technology capabilities supporting high-impact national missions. Responsibilities for the Senior Release Train Engineer include: Lead Agile Release Train activities including PI Planning, ART Syncs, Scrum of Scrums, system demonstrations, and other SAFe ceremonies across multiple technical teamsCoordinate cross-team dependencies, risks, feature sequencing, and delivery commitments across software, cloud, data, QA, security, and migration workstreamsDrive continuous improvement by facilitating Inspect & Adapt activities, monitoring program-level delivery metrics, and coaching teams on Agile, SAFe, and Lean practicesPartner with Product Management, technical leadership, architects, and mission stakeholders to communicate ART progress, risks, priorities, and release readinessSupport major releases and integration activities by aligning team execution with program objectives and coordinating with DevSecOps teams throughout CI/CD and deployment cycles Required Qualifications for the Senior Release Train Engineer include: 8+ years of experience in Agile delivery, technical program coordination, project leadership, or related environments, with a Bachelor’s degree required3+ years of direct experience serving as a Release Train Engineer within a SAFe environmentStrong knowledge of SAFe, Agile delivery, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and enterprise software development practicesDemonstrated experience managing cross-team dependencies, program risks, delivery sequencing, and coordination across multiple Agile teamsMust have an Active Top Secret Security Clearance Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Release Train Engineer include: SAFe RTE, SAFe Practice Consultant (SPC), SAFe PO/PM, or similar Agile certificationExperience supporting DOJ, FBI, Intelligence Community, or other national security modernization programsExperience working with AWS cloud environments, microservices, distributed systems, or large-scale technology modernization initiativesExperience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, VersionOne, or similar platforms Compensation for the Senior Release Train Engineer includes: Salary Range: Competitive salary depending on experience Full Benefits Package: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Sick Leave as Required by Law This job opens for applications on 9/29/2026.
