Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Controls Engineer 2.
The work will be done onsite in Tucson, AZ.
This is a long-term, 24-month contract that can lead to permanent employment with our client.
Compensation is up to $56/hour W2 + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401(k), and holiday pay).
Job Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the integration and validation of autonomous vehicle systems in a hands-on testing environment.
In this role, you will develop test plans, execute validation activities, troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and software issues, and analyze test data to improve system performance.
You'll collaborate closely with software developers, operators, and cross-functional engineering teams while working directly with large autonomous machines in a proving ground environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain test plans and validation procedures for autonomous vehicle systems.Execute testing on autonomous machines and collect, analyze, and document test results.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues encountered during testing.Prepare detailed test reports and provide recommendations for product improvements.Collaborate with software developers, operators, and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve system performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in control systems, vehicle testing, engine development, or autonomous technologies.2–4 years of relevant engineering experience (internships accepted).Experience with vehicle testing, validation, control systems, or autonomous technologies.Strong troubleshooting skills involving complex systems.Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems.Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.Ability and willingness to work onsite in a hot, dry, dusty environment and frequently climb on and off large equipment while carrying testing gear.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Ubuntu or Linux operating systems.Test planning and technical documentation experience.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.Experience with autonomous systems, including perception, planning, or positioning technologies.Experience testing heavy equipment, off-highway vehicles, or other complex mobile machinery is a plus.
