Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a Senior Software Engineer.
In this position, the engineer will design, implement, and maintain back-end services and APIs that power Monimate’s financial intelligence features.
Responsibilities include architecting scalable and secure systems, writing high-quality, testable code, performing code reviews, and optimizing performance across data processing workflows.
The role will collaborate closely with product and design teams to translate financial stability concepts into robust technical solutions, as well as integrate third-party services and ensure data privacy and security.
The engineer will also contribute to technical decision-making, mentor other team members, and help refine engineering best practices in a lean, product-focused environment.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.Proficiency in Software Development and Programming with modern languages and frameworks used in back-end systems.Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and database integration.Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and patterns applied to production codebases.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modeling, and performance optimization.Background in fintech, personal finance, or data-intensive applications is an asset.Ability to work independently in a remote setting, communicate clearly, and collaborate across disciplines.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
