Referment is working with an AI software company building research products for investment and advisory teams. This senior backend role focuses on the systems behind high-volume AI interactions, search, orchestration and the internal data flows that support commercial operations. You’ll own architecture through production and work across model providers, data stores, APIs and business systems. It is a good fit for an engineer who enjoys distributed systems, reliable data movement and pragmatic automation more than a narrowly defined service boundary. The Role Design and scale backend systems for large-language-model workloads, vector search and multi-step orchestration.Connect model infrastructure, data stores and internal APIs into reliable, observable systems.Prototype retrieval pipelines, caching layers and asynchronous task processing.Own internal data architecture and pipelines across product, CRM and finance workflows.Build APIs, integrations and tools used by customer-facing and operational teams.Help shape engineering practices and infrastructure decisions. What We're Looking For Experience owning technical projects from architecture through production operation.Strong production coding skills in Python or TypeScript.Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, data modelling, reliability and system design.Comfort translating business problems into clean technical workflows and automation.Evidence of shipping quickly without lowering engineering standards. Experience with billing, usage-based pricing, data pipelines, event-driven systems, retrieval or embeddings would be valuable.
