Senior .NET Application Developer – Healthcare Software Remote | Part-Time – Approximately 20 Hours/Week | Potential to Expand to Full-Time / Direct Hire Preference local to Dallas, must be US Citizen or Green card/Permanent Resident Only The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Senior .NET Application Developer to join a small, collaborative software team supporting and enhancing business-critical healthcare applications. This position will begin as a part-time opportunity of approximately 20 hours per week with defined working hours. As the product, team, and business needs evolve, there is potential for the position to expand into a full-time opportunity and potentially convert to direct hire. This is first and foremost a hands-on software development position. We are looking for a senior developer with strong Microsoft-stack experience who can quickly become productive in an established application environment using C#, .NET, Blazor, SQL Server, JavaScript, Microsoft Azure, and Azure DevOps. Prior experience developing or supporting healthcare, medical, clinical, health insurance, pharmaceutical, EMR/EHR, or related healthcare software is highly valued. The right person will be comfortable joining an established product, learning the existing architecture before recommending changes, independently owning assigned development work, and collaborating closely with an experienced Technical Lead/Senior Developer. What You'll Do Design, develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and support established web applications using C#, .NET, Blazor/Razor, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and SQL Server.Develop new application functionality while maintaining and improving existing production systems.Work with modern .NET/ASP.NET Core as well as established Microsoft application architectures.Develop and optimize T-SQL, stored procedures, tables, indexes, views, and data-access logic.Build and maintain APIs, integrations, application services, and supporting backend functionality.Diagnose application and performance problems across the UI, application/service, database, integration, and cloud layers.Write automated tests and validate application changes before release.Participate in code reviews and contribute ideas for improving application design, maintainability, performance, security, and development practices.Manage code through Git and Azure DevOps, including branches, pull requests, builds, and application deployments.Work within Microsoft Azure and become increasingly familiar with the configuration and deployment of the Azure resources supporting the application.As you become familiar with the product and infrastructure, serve as a backup to the Technical Lead/Senior Developer for selected Azure configuration, CI/CD, deployment, and production-support responsibilities.Initially focus on well-defined development tasks and tickets while learning the product; over time, contribute to new tool design, feature improvements, technical direction, and UI recommendations.Communicate technical recommendations, risks, trade-offs, and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical team members. What We're Looking For 5+ years of professional software development experience, with significant hands-on experience in the Microsoft/.NET technology stack.Strong current development experience with C# and .NET / ASP.NET Core.Experience developing Microsoft web applications using Blazor and/or strong Razor-based development experience.Strong SQL Server and T-SQL development skills, including stored procedures, queries, database objects, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.Experience developing, enhancing, and supporting established production applications, not exclusively greenfield development.Prior experience developing or supporting healthcare, medical, pharmaceutical, health insurance, clinical, EMR/EHR, or other healthcare-related software.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in an application-development environment.Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD, build/release processes, and application deployments.Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, and production-troubleshooting skills.Experience with automated testing and sound object-oriented development practices.Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with another highly experienced senior developer.Strong communication skills and the confidence to offer ideas, explain technical decisions, and respectfully challenge an approach when appropriate.Ability to consistently commit to the required approximately 20-hour-per-week schedule and defined working hours. Azure & DevOps Experience This is not a DevOps Engineer position. The primary responsibility is hands-on application development. However, Because The Development Team Works Closely With The Azure Environment Supporting Its Applications, Candidates Should Be Comfortable Working Beyond The Code Itself. Relevant Experience May Include Azure App ServicesAzure SQLEntra ID / Azure ADRBACKey Vault / secrets and application configurationAzure Functionsapplication/environment configurationCI/CD pipelinesdeployment and release troubleshootingmonitoring and production diagnostics Deep expertise across every Azure service is not required. The team is more interested in a strong senior developer who is technically curious, comfortable working within Azure, and willing to expand their infrastructure/configuration knowledge as they learn the environment. Infrastructure as Code Experience with Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies is a plus, but is not required. The existing environment utilizes Infrastructure as Code, and the developer may eventually assist with modifications as part of backing up the Technical Lead. Candidates who do not currently have Terraform experience can be trained in the environment. The Working Model This is a collaborative, hands-on role rather than a position where work is handed off after the code is written. Initially, The Developer Will Spend The Majority Of Their Time Completing Defined Application-development Tasks And Tickets While Learning The Product And Established Architecture. The Current Working Model Is Approximately 65% assigned development tasks/tickets20% meetings and team communication15% collaboration with the Technical Lead/Senior Developer As the developer becomes established, they will have increasing opportunities to participate in application design, new-tool development, feature improvements, UI recommendations, deployment/configuration activities, and backup technical responsibilities. Azure/DevOps work represents a smaller percentage of the overall position and is shared with the Technical Lead. There is no expectation for after-hours production support.
