Job Summary: Avia NG is seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Senior Airport Electrical Engineer to support the planning, design, and construction of major airport capital projects. This role works collaboratively across multiple offices and disciplines, balancing in‑person design and construction assignments with virtual coordination and project management activities. The Senior Airport Electrical Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the planning, design, delivery, and quality oversight of electrical engineering projects within airport environments. This role provides advanced technical expertise across airport electrical infrastructure, including airfield lighting systems, electrical distribution systems, facility electrical systems, standby power, and airport support facilities. Working closely with clients, project managers, contractors, airport operators, and multidisciplinary design teams, this position supports the successful delivery of complex airport infrastructure projects from concept through construction and commissioning. The role also contributes significantly to business development, proposal preparation, client relationship management, mentoring junior staff, and advancing Avia NG's technical excellence in airport engineering. This role is well suited to someone interested in aviation as well as construction, who enjoys collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, and developing practical, buildable solutions within the realities of airport operations. Technical Leadership & Design Lead the design and delivery of airport electrical infrastructure projects. Provide senior engineering expertise for: Airport electrical distribution systemsMedium- and low-voltage power distribution Airport buildings and terminal facilities Airfield lighting systems (AGL) Navigational aid power systems Standby and emergency power systems Site electrical installations and controls Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation.Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and airport operational requirements. Review engineering deliverables for quality, constructability, safety, and operational effectiveness. Participate in site investigations, field reviews, commissioning activities, and condition assessments. Project Delivery Manage multiple projects while maintaining budget, schedule, and quality objectives. Support project planning, risk management, and resource allocation.Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and architectural disciplines.Provide technical guidance during construction and contract administration phases.Review contractor submissions, RFIs, change requests, and shop drawings.Assist project managers in identifying and mitigating project risks. Business Development & Proposal Support Lead and support proposal development efforts for airport infrastructure projects.Prepare technical approaches, work plans, scopes, schedules, and fee estimates.Participate in client meetings, business development activities, conferences, and industry events.Build and maintain strong relationships with airport authorities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders.Identify opportunities for new work and support strategic growth initiatives. Mentorship & Team Development Provide technical mentorship to engineers, EITs, technologists, and designers.Review and guide engineering work completed by junior staff.Contribute to recruitment, onboarding, and professional development activities.Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives within the electrical practice. What do we need from you? Additional skills and experience we are seeking: Education Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility for registration. Experience Minimum 10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience. Demonstrated experience in airport, aviation, transportation, municipal, or large infrastructure projects.Extensive experience with:Airport electrical distribution systemsBuilding electrical systemsMedium- and low-voltage power distributionAirfield lighting and airport support systemsDesign consulting environmentsProven experience preparing technical proposals and supporting business development activities.
