Substation Electrical Engineer

Primary is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineer to join our growing Substation teams, with immediate needs in Burnaby, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and Mississauga. Remote work arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. This role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer with a background in high-voltage utility and private substations, power systems engineering, and technical project execution. You will lead substation design and engineering while serving as a primary technical authority on projects. As part of our team, you will prepare and oversee engineering deliverables, including single-line diagrams, drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports. You will design and specify substation systems and equipment, perform and review power system studies, provide technical leadership throughout project execution, and support site visits, construction activities, testing, and commissioning. What we're looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.6 to 8 years of relevant experience in electrical utility and/or power systems engineering.Experience in electric substation design, power utility engineering, or industrial electrical infrastructure.Strong organizational skills with the ability to autonomously manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy while meeting project deadlines.Strong English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop professional business relationships.Class 5 driver’s licence. Experience with business development, establishing client relationships, mentoring junior engineers/EITs, designers and drafters, and supporting professional development and knowledge sharing would be considered assets.
