Senior Software Engineer

Description Tyler Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to help build our next-generation Civil Process platform and support the backend of our established Civil Process solution. Civil Process is a complete civil process solution that supports agencies from document receipt through service, payment, state reporting, and final closeout. The primary development focus of this position is backend engineering for our cloud-native, multi-tenant Next Gen Civil Process platform. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, product stakeholders, and designers to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable capabilities in AWS. This role also provides backend support for our established Civil Process application, which uses .NET Windows Forms and SQL Server and is offered through an AWS-hosted environment. You will triage production issues, analyze application and database behavior, tune SQL Server performance, and collaborate with other teams to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions. This role does not include legacy feature development. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services using C# and .NET.Build and maintain well-designed REST APIs and system integrations.Translate business and technical requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.Contribute to technical design decisions involving application architecture, data, security, performance, reliability, and scalability.Write clean, well-tested code and participate in peer code reviews.Diagnose and resolve complex issues affecting backend services.Triage issues involving the established Civil Process application and its AWS-hosted environment.Analyze SQL Server queries, execution plans, indexes, and database performance.Recommend and implement database tuning improvements.Perform root-cause analysis and help prevent recurring production issues.Improve automated testing, deployment, monitoring, observability, and software delivery practices.Collaborate with engineering, product, quality assurance, support, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.Provide technical guidance and share knowledge with other members of the engineering team.Balance planned backend development with production support and troubleshooting priorities. Qualifications Five or more years of professional software development experience.Strong experience developing backend applications with C# and .NET.Experience designing and building REST APIs and application services.Strong SQL Server skills, including query development, execution-plan analysis, indexing, and performance tuning.Experience troubleshooting complex application and database issues.Experience with relational database design and data modeling.Understanding of software design principles, automated testing, and secure development practices.Experience with source control and continuous integration and delivery practices.Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and manage both planned and unplanned priorities.Must be able to undergo and satisfactorily pass a fingerprint-based background check in accordance with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing event-driven or distributed systems.Experience with public cloud infrastructure and services, preferably AWS.Experience supporting applications hosted on Windows Server.Familiarity with .NET Windows Forms applications.Experience with NoSQL databases and data-modeling patterns.Experience with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Amazon EKS.Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.Experience with application monitoring, observability, and production support tools.Experience building cloud-native, multi-tenant software-as-a-service applications.Experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
