About the Role We need a pragmatic developer who is comfortable working closely with other disciplines, reading electrical schematics to understand hardware behavior, and building resilient backend networking solutions. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your code directly controls and monitors specialized aerospace and defense equipment. Key Responsibilities: Hardware-Adjacent Software Development: Design, implement, and maintain robust backend software and services primarily using C# / .NET to interface with electromechanical systems and digital signal interfaces.Network & Backend Architecture: Develop and optimize network communication protocols, socket programming, and backend data pipelines handling real-time data streams.Hardware/Software Integration: Collaborate closely with electrical and mechanical engineers, reading schematics, pinouts, and timing diagrams to troubleshoot integration issues between software, custom PCBs, and COTS hardware.Testing & Quality Assurance: Implement practical, production-grade automated unit tests and integration tests to ensure software reliability on mission-critical assets.Deployment & Modernization: Help build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment, testing, and continuous delivery across development and field environments. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.At least 1 previous full-time professional software development role (post-grad industry experience).Strong working experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem (candidates with heavy C/C++ backgrounds will be considered if comfortable transitioning quickly into .NET).Proven experience in backend development with a focus on networking, sockets, and standard communication protocols (e.g., TCP/UDP, REST, serial).Foundational understanding of electromechanical systems and digital signals, with the practical ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics, wire diagrams, and hardware pinouts.Demonstrated ability to operate independently, troubleshoot complex issues at the hardware-software boundary, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment. Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience establishing or improving modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).Proven track record of developing meaningful, robust automated unit test suites in production environments (beyond academic or senior design projects).Practical hands-on IT/networking experience, including physical rack mounting, server setup, and running/terminating Ethernet and serial cabling.Experience with real-time data telemetry, RF systems, or embedded hardware communication.
