Quanteam North America is hiring a Senior Cloud Software Engineer for a major global energy trading house in Houston.
You will build the cloud-native platforms that power market data, pricing, analytics and pre-trade decision support for the trading floor.
This is a senior individual-contributor role.
It is hands-on engineering first, and you will also shape the architecture and mentor other engineers.
What you'll do
Design, build, deploy and run secure cloud-native applications, APIs, microservices and event-driven services on AWSWrite clean, well-tested backend services and automation in PythonEngineer production-grade pipelines that ingest, validate and expose market data for pricing and pre-trade workflowsWork directly with traders, quants, product owners, architects, data, cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to turn business needs into resilient solutionsChoose and apply AWS managed services for serverless, containerized and data-intensive workloadsDefine reusable IaC, automated testing and CI/CD patterns (Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation, Git-based workflows)Build in security from the start: least privilege, encryption, secrets management, network controls and vulnerability remediationOwn observability (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting), lead incident investigations and improve availability and performanceOptimize AWS cost and resource usageIntegrate with Azure services where it adds real valueLead design, code and architecture reviews, set engineering standards and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
What you bring
7+ years of professional software engineering, including delivery and production support of business-critical applicationsAdvanced hands-on experience designing and operating production solutions on AWS (compute, storage, networking, IAM, databases, messaging, serverless and containers)Strong Python skills: OO design, testing, dependency management, API development and distributed systemsDocker plus ECS or EKSInfrastructure as code with Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormationA solid grasp of CI/CD, code review, release management, observability, incident response, disaster recovery and a secure SDLCProven technical leadership: you drive architecture discussions, mentor engineers and communicate clearly with technical and business stakeholders in an Agile settingA Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
