Senior Valve Design Engineer

VALVE DESIGN ENGINEER | WEST YORKSHIRE I’m currently working on an opportunity with a specialist engineering and manufacturing business experiencing a significant period of growth. They are looking for an experienced Valve Design Engineer to join their technical engineering function and play a key role in the development of specialist, highly engineered valve solutions. The Opportunity: This is an opportunity to move beyond standard product design and work on large, technically complex and custom-designed equipment. You’ll be involved in the design concept and development of new valve ranges, as well as the continued development of existing products. The role offers genuine exposure across the full engineering lifecycle, from initial concept and calculations through to manufacture and testing. Your responsibilities will include: • Designing innovative and bespoke valve solutions • Developing new product ranges • 3D CAD design • FEA & CFD • Structural calculations and design reports • Material selection • Valve and actuator sizing • Design for manufacture • Supporting manufacturing and testing • Producing technical documentation and risk assessments • Working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams You’ll also have the opportunity to work on challenging customer requirements, developing solutions where standard catalogue products simply aren't enough. What we're looking for: We're interested in speaking with experienced Design Engineers with a strong background in valves or closely related engineered products such as pumps. Ideally, you'll have: • Strong knowledge of valve design and functionality • Experience with operating mechanisms • Excellent CAD capability, ideally SolidWorks / AutoCAD • FEA & CFD experience • Experience with structural calculations • Material selection and valve/actuator sizing experience • Understanding of PED and relevant ASME, BS, ISO or API standards • An understanding of manufacturing processes • A logical and analytical approach to engineering challenges • A genuine interest in innovative product development Why consider it?: If you're currently designing relatively standard products and want to move into something more technically challenging, more bespoke and with greater ownership, this could be an interesting next step.
