Senior Structural Engineer

Express Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a well-established, award-winning engineering practice with a strong presence across the Midlands, who are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join their high-performing team. Known for delivering high-quality technical design nationwide, they work across a diverse portfolio ranging from bespoke new builds to complex refurbishments, eco-homes and heritage conservation projects. The successful candidate will be a technically excellent design engineer with proven experience delivering structural design across all core construction materials, who values sustainable engineering and thrives on complex challenges. You will provide true technical leadership to junior colleagues within a supportive environment, with genuine scope for leadership and clear career advancement. The role offers a salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience, AXA private healthcare, company pension, professional subscriptions and exam fees, and the Cycle2Work scheme. You will also benefit from an annual profit share scheme (~2.5%), funded external training and CPDs, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (including Christmas closure), free on-site parking, flexible working, and regular team social and family events. Key Responsibilities Delivering complex structural design solutions in steel, concrete, timber and masonry to UK/Eurocodes, producing detailed calculations, specifications and preliminary design strategies, and conducting technical QA reviewsLeading project programming and costs, and supervising CAD/Revit technicians and junior engineersEnsuring full compliance with CDM Regulations and sustainability criteria, including embodied carbon and BREEAM objectivesAttending design, progress and client meetings, acting as a key point of contact for contractors, building owners and third-party stakeholders to resolve technical queriesConducting comprehensive structural appraisals and surveys for commercial, industrial and residential properties, producing clear sketches, drawings and technical reports Skills & Experience Required Chartered status (or actively working towards Chartership) with IStructE or ICERelevant structural engineering design experienceProven track record conducting structural surveys, using structural analysis software, and managing projects from inception to completionAbility to lead junior staff, combined with a client-focused approach and excellent communication skillsFull UK driving licence and access to own transport About Express Recruitment Express Recruitment has been offering exceptional recruitment solutions across the East Midlands since 1987, “exceeding expectations every time” of over 267,000 candidates.
