Performance Test Engineer, contract position
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite)

Roles and responsibilities:
We are seeking a senior Performance Engineer (QA) to drive end-to-end performance testing delivery for complex, high-reliability enterprise financial applications.
Working closely with performance leads, application development, architecture, infrastructure, and production support teams, you will design, script, execute, and analyze comprehensive load and performance testing scenarios to ensure system stability, security, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Execution: Write technical performance test plans and design/execute various test scenarios (load, stress, failover, longevity/aging, endurance).Scripting & Development: Develop robust, data-driven load test scripts using LoadRunner / VUGen (utilizing Citrix and HTTP protocols) and Python.Test Data Management: Lead data creation activities and maintain test script integrity beyond standard record-and-playback features.Monitoring & Diagnostics: Monitor application performance across Windows and Linux environments using APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, CA Wily Introscope, AWR reports, and Splunk).Defect Triage & Reporting: Troubleshoot bottlenecks, perform root-cause analysis, lead defect triage sessions with cross-functional teams, and deliver clear technical findings.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
Experience: A minimum of 5-10+ years of hands-on experience in performance engineering, development, or performance architecture.Performance Testing Tools: Deep expertise in LoadRunner or JMeter, with advanced proficiency in VUGen utilizing Citrix Protocol and HTTP/HTTPS.Programming & Scripting: Strong specialized proficiency in Python, alongside solid hands-on experience in C, Java, Scripting, and SQL query development.Monitoring & Analysis: Proven ability to analyze application performance using Dynatrace, AppDynamics, CA Wily Introscope, Oracle AWR reports, and Splunk.Domain Experience: Familiarity with commercial banking or loan management platforms (e.g., Finastra Loan IQ) is highly preferred.
Development experience in financial applications is a major plus.Architecture & Environment: Strong grasp of distributed application architectures, web protocols, and end-to-end performance bottleneck identification.Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and cross-functional communication skills.
