Brief Role Description We are looking for a Contract Software Engineer II – Backend who is a solid Java developer, ready to execute independently, keep pace with team delivery, and grow fast. You take ownership of your work, speak up when you're blocked, and see every challenge as an opportunity to get better. What You'll Do Independently deliver backend features and bug fixes in Java, meeting sprint commitments and contributing to team velocityWrite clean, well-structured code — and take pride in itProactively reach out to teammates, leads, or other teams when you hit a blocker instead of going silentContribute to growing the team's test coverage through unit and integration tests — not just for your own code, but also new initiatives that might need additional testing coverageParticipate actively in Agile rituals: standups, sprint planning, and retrospectivesReview code, give useful feedback, and receive it with an open mindCollaborate with senior engineers and ask good questions to level up quickly Possible Tasks within this Role Core Skills What We're Looking For: Solid proficiency in Java — you can write production-quality backend code without needing handholdingFamiliarity with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworksExperience working with REST APIs and relational or NoSQL databases (Postgres, MongoDB)Comfortable writing unit tests; integration test experience is a plus How You Work You execute independently — you break down a task, figure out the approach, and deliver itYou match or beat team velocity consistently; you don't let tickets sitYou are proactive: if something is unclear or you're stuck, you reach out — you don't waitYou take ownership of quality, including test coverage, without being askedYou're a fast learner who treats new technology, domains, or challenges as interesting problems, not obstacles Qualification requirements Qualifications 5+ years of backend software development experienceProficiency in Java; Spring Boot experience preferredExperience with REST API developmentExposure to databases: Postgres and/or MongoDBBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experienceMust be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without employer sponsorship.This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay for this position will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
