Duration: 6 Months (Contract)
Shift: First Shift (08:00 AM – 04:30 PM)
Max Bill Rate: $98 / hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a senior-level FPGA On-Target Test Engineer (Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer 4) to support the integration, verification, and validation of FPGA- and system-on-chip (SoC)-based products in a hardware laboratory environment.
In this role, you will collaborate with FPGA design, simulation verification, systems engineering, and integration teams to develop and execute requirements-based tests on target hardware.
Key Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Execution: Develop, review, and execute requirements-based verification/validation procedures and perform on-target testing using engineering and production-representative hardware.Hardware Integration & Bring-Up: Support FPGA/SoC design integration, hardware bring-up, and laboratory troubleshooting.Test Setup & Instrumentation: Configure test setups, instrumentation, cables, loads, and support equipment using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies, and interface analyzers.Interface & System Verification: Verify digital interfaces and system functionality, identify anomalies, and lead root-cause analysis for discrepancies.Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and tools to automate test execution, data collection, analysis, and reporting.Documentation & Reviews: Document test methods, procedures, results, and verification evidence.
Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and technical interchange meetings.Technical Leadership (Level 4): Provide technical leadership, review test artifacts, establish test strategies, and mentor junior engineering staff.Basic Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.Experience: 9+ years of related work experience (or Master's with 7+ years / PhD with 4+ years).Technical Skills:Hands-on experience with FPGA/SoC technologies, digital hardware, or embedded computing architectures in a lab setting.Proven experience developing and executing requirements-based verification or validation tests.Strong expertise troubleshooting digital hardware, FPGA-based systems, or embedded electronics.Ability to translate system and hardware requirements into clear test procedures and document test findings.Preferred Qualifications
Industry Experience: 10+ years of experience in aerospace, avionics, aircraft systems, or safety-critical engineering environments.Scripting & Software: Practical experience with Python for test automation and data analysis; familiarity with C, C#, LabVIEW, or MATLAB.Protocol & Interface Expertise: Hands-on experience with Ethernet (10/100 Mbps, 1 Gbps), MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, LVDT, DDV, or SOV devices/interfaces.Mixed-Signal Testing: Experience with analog signals, signal integrity, or mixed-signal testing.Tools: Familiarity with requirements management, test management, defect tracking, and configuration management tools.
