About the Opportunity HummingBird is hiring a J2EE Developer on behalf of its client, a leading organization in the Software Development industry, based in Troy, Michigan. The J2EE Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, integrating, and maintaining enterprise-grade Java applications. The role will work closely with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other developers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with J2EE technologies, Java, Spring, REST APIs, databases, and enterprise application development. Key Responsibilities Application Development Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Java/J2EE applications.Translate business and technical requirements into scalable software solutions.Develop reusable, maintainable, and high-quality application components.Participate in the complete software development lifecycle.Troubleshoot application issues and provide timely resolutions. J2EE & Java Development Develop enterprise applications using Java, J2EE, and related frameworks.Work with Servlets, JSP, JDBC, JPA, EJB, and other Java EE technologies as applicable.Develop business logic and service-layer components.Apply object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and reliability. API & Web Services Design, develop, and maintain RESTful and SOAP-based web services.Integrate applications with internal and external enterprise systems.Implement authentication, authorization, validation, and error-handling mechanisms.Troubleshoot API and integration-related issues.Document APIs and technical integrations. Database Development Develop and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database interactions.Work with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.Implement efficient data access and persistence solutions.Analyze database performance and resolve data-related issues.Maintain data integrity and consistency across applications. Testing & Quality Assurance Develop unit, integration, and functional tests for application components.Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards.Collaborate with QA teams to troubleshoot and resolve defects.Support performance and application testing activities.Identify opportunities to improve application quality and reliability. Deployment & Production Support Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams on application deployments.Support CI/CD pipelines and automated build processes.Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.Monitor application performance and resolve operational issues.Support application releases, upgrades, and maintenance activities. Agile Collaboration Work closely with product owners, business analysts, architects, QA engineers, and development teams.Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.Provide technical estimates and contribute to solution design discussions.Maintain technical documentation and development standards.Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge-sharing activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.4–8 years of professional experience in Java/J2EE development.Strong hands-on experience with Java and J2EE technologies.Experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and enterprise application architecture.Experience developing RESTful and/or SOAP web services.Strong SQL and relational database experience.Good understanding of SDLC and Agile development methodologies.Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
