About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer for a contract position based in Covington, Kentucky. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within the financial services sector, focusing on modernizing legacy applications and developing innovative, scalable solutions. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in modern web technologies and frameworks. Essential qualifications include proficiency in PHP 8, Node.js, Angular 17+, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Git, and REST APIs. Experience with maintaining and modernizing legacy PHP applications, especially transitioning monolithic architectures to modern microservices, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in application security, including vulnerability remediation aligned with OWASP Top 10, secure coding practices, and enterprise identity protocols such as OAuth, OIDC, and SAML. Familiarity with relational databases like MySQL, automated testing (unit, integration, end-to-end), and Agile methodologies is required. Additional skills in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and security tools (SonarQube, Mend, CodeQL) are considered a plus. Responsibilities You will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable web applications, ensuring they meet security and performance standards. Your daily activities will include writing clean, maintainable code, conducting code reviews, and creating automated tests following Test Driven Development (TDD) principles. You will collaborate with architecture and product teams to gather requirements, participate in system design discussions, and translate business needs into technical solutions. Supporting other developers through mentorship and technical guidance will be an integral part of your role. You will work within an Agile framework, actively participating in daily stand-ups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives. Additionally, you will troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, optimize existing applications, and contribute to continuous integration and deployment pipelines. Your efforts will help modernize legacy systems, enhance application security, and improve overall system performance, ensuring seamless integration with enterprise systems and data sources.
