Senior Aerospace Software Engineer – Backend-Leaning Full Stack Location: Remote within the United States Travel: Limited, approximately 0–10% Employment: Full-time Citizenship: Eligibility to obtain a U.S. government security clearance. Required: ~5 years total as SWE, 2+ years of professional software engineering experience within the space or aerospace industry We are partnering with a growing aerospace software and engineering company to hire a Senior Aerospace Software Engineer. You will join a close-knit services team supporting mission-critical government and commercial space programs. This is a developer-first role for someone who combines strong software fundamentals with practical space-domain experience. You will take ownership of an existing development workstream, become a trusted technical resource for the program, and contribute to internal products and future customer projects. The work is expected to be approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend. The current environment includes Python, C/C++, Node.js, Angular, and React, but the team values engineering fundamentals and learning agility more than an exact technology match. What You’ll Do Develop and maintain backend-heavy, full-stack aerospace applications.Take ownership of an existing program and grow into its development subject-matter expert.Build reliable software supporting space-mission, ground-system, and operational workflows.Contribute across design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance.Work with internal engineers, prime contractors, partner developers, and technical customers.Translate operational and customer requirements into effective software solutions.Support internal development and additional government or commercial programs.Balance multiple projects and adapt as priorities evolve within a small team. What We’re Looking For Approximately five or more years of professional software-development experience.Strong software-engineering fundamentals and experience delivering production-quality applications.Backend development strength with some frontend capability.Professional experience with Python and one or more additional languages.Experience working across APIs, databases, cloud-hosted applications, or distributed systems.Practical experience within the space or satellite industry.Familiarity with space-mission, spacecraft-operations, ground-system, simulation, TT&C, or flight-dynamics workflows.Ability to independently learn an existing system and assume meaningful technical ownership.Strong communication skills and comfort collaborating with external engineering teams and customers.Willingness to wear multiple hats and work beyond a narrowly defined job description.
