Senior Platform Engineer

For our client, a successful company based in Lausanne region, we are recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer to take an established internal platform to the next level and make it production-grade. The platform already supports critical production workloads. You will inherit an existing environment rather than a blank page, with the freedom to challenge and reshape tooling and architecture where justified. The target environment is AWS, and you will own the platform’s technical direction, including the design of the AWS landing zone and the evolution of the on-premises footprint. This is a hands-on expert role where platform engineering and security by design are equally important. YOUR MISSION • Take the existing platform to production grade, with tested backup and recovery, infrastructure under version control, clear SLOs and robust documentation. • Build comprehensive observability across monitoring, logging and alerting so that issues are identified before they impact users. • Design and implement the AWS landing zone and target architecture, and drive the migration of relevant workloads from on-premises to AWS. • Evolve the core platform covering CI/CD, infrastructure as code, secrets, artifact management and environment provisioning. • Make security the default through SAST, SCA, container and IaC scanning, policy-as-code and secure infrastructure patterns. • Create and promote golden paths for engineers and developers, helping teams adopt the platform through practical tools and guidance. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR We are looking for a hands-on Platform / DevOps Engineer with 7+ years of experience and deep expertise in AWS, including landing zones, IAM, networking, account structures and Terraform. You have solid production experience with Kubernetes and containers, as well as pipeline security tooling, secrets management and secure-by-default infrastructure patterns. You are comfortable operating what you build, with strong experience in monitoring, incident response and continuous reliability improvement. Python and Bash are required, and fluent English is essential. You are someone who understands how platforms evolve from an early-stage collection of scripts into a reliable backbone for an organisation. You know what to build first, what to postpone, what breaks at scale and, importantly, how to earn adoption from users rather than imposing standards. You enjoy challenging existing architecture and making pragmatic decisions based on real business needs. Experience in a regulated environment, as well as knowledge of ISO 27001, would be an advantage. Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, supporting non-engineer developers, or implementing software supply-chain security would also be valuable.
