About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Engineer specializing in Mission Systems Software Development to join our team at Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) in Daytona Beach, Florida. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing, integrating, and maintaining mission-critical software systems that support our advanced aerospace and defense projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technology in a collaborative environment that values innovation, security, and excellence. The role involves participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment, with a focus on automation, security, and quality assurance within a DevSecOps framework. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in full lifecycle software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis is required. Candidates should have proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, Ada, and Linux environments. Experience with version control systems like Git, ClearCase, or Subversion is essential. Additionally, the candidate must be able to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance post-hire. Preferred qualifications include 14 or more years of related experience, leadership skills, team management experience, and familiarity with Agile development methodologies and collaboration tools like JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket. Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to work independently or lead small teams are highly valued. Responsibilities Participate in the development and refinement of software requirements through use case development and stakeholder collaboration.Lead activities to design, document, and maintain software architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and system designs tailored for mission systems applications.Develop, test, and integrate complex mission systems software components, ensuring seamless functionality within the overall system architecture.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to less experienced software engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.Act as an independent reviewer to identify best practices, potential improvements, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring high-quality deliverables.Engage actively in all program phases, from proposal and planning through to delivery, ensuring adherence to schedule, quality, and security standards.Support the measurement and analysis of software quality metrics, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance.Contribute to the development of automated build, test, and deployment pipelines within a DevSecOps environment, emphasizing automation and security best practices.
