Job Description As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Loughborough team to support our activities within the clean energy and advanced technology sector. You will play a key role in the mechanical design and development of innovative products, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture. Working closely with development and manufacturing teams, you will be responsible for creating robust engineering solutions, detailed CAD models, and technical documentation to support the delivery of high-quality products. Location: Loughborough On Site: Full- timeClearance: ClearableExperience Level: Junior to mid (2-5 YOE)Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorksCreate detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentationSupport product development activities from concept, prototyping, and testing through to productionCollaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturableParticipate in design reviews and implement engineering improvements where requiredSupport prototype build, assembly, and validation activitiesManage design changes and maintain accurate engineering records and documentationWork with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical issues and deliver project objectives Qualifications Required Skills: Experience using SolidWorks in a professional engineering environmentStrong mechanical design and CAD modelling skillsExperience producing detailed engineering drawings and technical documentationUnderstanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacture (DfM) principlesAbility to work effectively within cross-functional engineering teamsStrong problem-solving and communication skillsGood attention to detail and organisational skillsRequired Qualifications: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.2–4 years of experience in a mechanical design engineering roleExperience supporting products through design and development activitiesDesirable Skills: Experience within clean energy, automotive, aerospace, or advanced technology environmentsKnowledge of prototyping and product testing processesUnderstanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change controlExperience working within a fast-paced R&D or product development environmentFamiliarity with manufacturing and assembly processes Additional Information Why join us?
