Role: Senior Software Engineer (Java + AWS) Location -Leeds Permanent roleMust be Fine with 3 days travel to FCA, Leeds UK office every weekNon SC Preferred. Experience: 7+ Years Relevant Mandatory Skill Set – Java + AWS + React or AngularJS Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java and AWS cloud technologies to design, develop, and enhance scalable, high-performing applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building cloud-native solutions, working with modern development frameworks, and leveraging automation and testing tools to deliver reliable software that meets user needs. You will play a key role in developing end-to-end solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and continuously improving production services. Key Responsibilities Develop clean, secure, and maintainable code following test-driven development (TDD) practicesDesign and build scalable, reusable software components and servicesCollaborate closely with developers, QA, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutionsTroubleshoot and resolve production issues; ensure system stability and performanceContribute to application architecture, design decisions, and best practicesImplement and follow modern engineering standards, including CI/CD and DevOps practicesSupport system integration across multiple applications and servicesContinuously improve user experience and application performanceMonitor, operate, and optimize production systems in a cloud environmentProvide Level 3 (L3) support on a rotational/on-demand basis (flexible, not mandatory) Required Skills & Qualifications Strong experience in Java (Spring Boot) and microservices architectureHands-on experience with AWS services, such as:ECS, ECR, Lambda, API GatewayS3, DynamoDB, SQS, Step FunctionsExposure to API management tools (e.g., Apigee) is a plusExperience with frontend technologies, such as AngularJS and TypeScriptProficiency in CI/CD and DevOps tools, including:Jenkins, GitLab, Maven, Docker, CloudFormationFamiliarity with scripting languages (Groovy, Bash)Experience with testing frameworks and practices:Gherkin, Cypress, Jest, KarateStrong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)Knowledge of secure coding practices and code quality tools (e.g., SonarQube, Fortify)Experience working in Agile environments Preferred Qualifications Understanding of user-centered design principlesExperience managing or contributing to CI/CD pipelinesITIL certification (preferred but not mandatory) What We’re Looking For Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environmentOwnership mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement
