About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Specialist in Software Engineering to join our dynamic team. This role involves working within a classified environment to develop and enhance core functionalities that support customization and user interface teams. The successful candidate will focus on creating modular, generic services and REST endpoints primarily using Java and PostgreSQL. Collaborating closely with technical leads and subject matter experts, the role requires designing and implementing new features that meet stringent security, performance, and mission requirements. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical solutions developed by L3Harris's Space Ground Solutions Group, supporting national security missions across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related STEM field, along with at least six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Essential technical skills include proficiency in Java (preferably Java 11 or newer), SQL with a focus on PostgreSQL, and experience working within Linux environments. Familiarity with Java build tools such as Maven, version control systems like GIT, and collaboration software like Bitbucket or Gitlab is required. Candidates must have experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito, and familiarity with continuous integration tools like Jenkins. An active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is mandatory for this role. Additional preferred skills include Java Enterprise development, RESTful services, scripting languages (Bash, Groovy, Python), and experience supporting DoD or other national security environments. Responsibilities Maintain and enhance existing backend services by adding new features and improving performance.Design, develop, and implement new backend services aligned with project requirements.Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for backend services, procedures, and workflows.Participate in technical exchange meetings with stakeholders and functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity on project goals.Conduct and review pull requests, ensuring code quality, security, and adherence to best practices.Provide daily updates on progress through scrum meetings and maintain transparency via JIRA or Bitbucket comments.Engage in software design, testing, code reviews, and configuration management activities to ensure robust and secure solutions.Ensure all software solutions meet the mission, security, and performance standards required for national security applications.
