About the Opportunity: The TEST ENGINEER role supports a Department of Veterans Affairs program by ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of critical applications. This position contributes by designing, developing, and executing both manual and automated test cases to validate functionality, maintain compliance with federal standards, and support delivery through collaboration with technical and stakeholder teams. Responsibilities: Perform manual testing including test design, execution, and various testing types for full requirement coverageDevelop and execute automated test scripts for functional, regression, integration, API, accessibility, and performance testingConduct backend API testing and validation using tools like Swagger UI, POSTMAN, and SOAP UIUse model-based test automation tools such as Tricentis Tosca to design and maintain automated testsPerform backend and SQL database testing for data validation and integrityDevelop and enhance automated test frameworks using tools like Selenium and PostmanCollaborate with development and testing teams to identify scenarios, debug issues, and ensure testabilityAnalyze test results, document defects, and track resolutions using defect-tracking toolsEnsure compliance with VA, federal, and program-specific standards including accessibility and modernization requirementsParticipate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectivesSupport continuous improvement of QA processes and automation coverageReport on test execution, coverage, and quality metrics to QA leadership Requirements: U.S. citizenship or permanent residencyAbility to obtain and maintain Public Trust or VA-required clearanceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field3–5+ years of software testing experience including automation knowledgeHands-on experience with manual testing, API/backend testing, and SQL database testingStrong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologiesExperience in secure, regulated, or federal environmentsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsDetail-oriented with commitment to quality and complianceAbility to work independently in a fast-paced Agile federal environmentQuick learner able to absorb new tools, systems, and domain knowledge Preferred qualifications include experience with Tricentis Tosca, prior federal agency support, familiarity with VA systems, performance testing tools, and cloud platforms. Pay Range and Compensation Package: The base salary range for this position is $89,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on factors including geographic location, experience, skills, education, internal equity, security clearance, and contract requirements.
