Job Description Backend Engineer Join our Markets Business Technology team as a Backend Engineer in the Research & Content Generation Squad and build robust, scalable systems that power our research ecosystem. You will design and develop backend solutions for the research platform, handling critical financial data, research publishing, and distribution workflows alongside colleagues who value technical craftsmanship. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to core architecture decisions and grow your expertise in a collaborative, learning-focused environment. What You Will Be Doing Working within the Research & Content Generation squad, you will develop and maintain backend services and integrations that support the generation, management, and multi-channel distribution of research. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, UI engineers, Business Analysts, and research stakeholders across Wholesale Banking to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions that modernize research workflows and meet the demanding standards of financial markets. Design and implement backend services using modern development practicesOptimize database performance and ensure data integrity across systemsBuild resilient message processing solutions for high-frequency trading scenariosCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and solutionsMonitor application performance and implement improvements to system reliability About You Experience with .NET Core for building scalable backend applicationsProficient in SQL Server database design, optimization, and managementExperienced with RabbitMQ for message queuing and distributed system communicationUnderstanding of Elasticsearch for data indexing and search capabilitiesAbility to work independently while contributing effectively to team objectivesProblem-solving mindset with attention to detail in complex technical environments Experience with AWS cloud services would be valuable as we continue expanding our cloud infrastructure.
