The Senior Battery Simulation Engineer is responsible for developing, validating, and applying battery models to support the design, optimization, and performance assessment of battery energy storage systems.
The role combines battery physics, system-level engineering, and simulation expertise to predict battery behavior, evaluate design alternatives, and support product development throughout the entire lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain battery cell, module, pack, and system-level simulation models.Perform electrical, thermal, electrochemical, and degradation simulations to predict battery performance, safety, efficiency, and lifetime.Define, maintain, and validate simulation requirements and methodologies.Support system architecture and design decisions through modeling and simulation activities.Evaluate design trade-offs related to energy density, power capability, safety, performance, reliability, cost, and product lifetime.Collaborate with System Engineers, BMS Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers, Validation Teams, and external suppliers.Correlate simulation models with laboratory and field test data and continuously improve model accuracy.Support verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle.Conduct performance analysis under various operating conditions, including normal operation, extreme environments, and fault scenarios.Support root cause investigations and troubleshooting of battery and energy storage system issues.Generate technical reports and present simulation findings to project stakeholders and management.Contribute to technology roadmaps and continuous improvement initiatives within battery and energy storage development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Physics, Electrochemistry, or a related field.Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery technologies and battery system behavior.Experience with battery modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, COMSOL, ANSYS, GT-SUITE, or equivalent.Experience validating simulation models against test data.Knowledge of battery degradation, thermal management, battery safety, and Battery Management Systems (BMS).Ability to analyze complex technical problems and provide practical engineering solutions.English- Advanced

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).Renewable energy integration.Electric vehicles or heavy-duty transportation.Grid-scale energy storage applications.Functional safety and system engineering processes.Requirements management and product validation.
